TIPS FOR KIDS
Struggling with getting your kids to eat their veggies? Try one of these tips!
- Serve raw vegetables. Most kids prefer vegetables raw and crisp. Have some fun and serve a variety of colourful vegetables. Use cookie cutters to make different shapes and sizes and serve them with low-fat dips.
- Get them to drink their vegetables. V8® V-Go™ Vegetable Cocktail with a celery stir stick is pretty hip! One cup (250mL) serving provides two full servings of vegetables.
- Get the kids involved. Involve your children in meal planning, grocery shopping and helping out in the kitchen – it's the key to a successful mealtime. Children are more likely to eat a meal that they have been involved in creating.
- Soup's up! Soup is a great way to get your kids to eat vegetables without them even realizing it. Campbell's® condensed Vegetable soup with fun alphabet-shaped pasta can be an entertaining way for children to eat their veggies.
- Sometimes it's ok to play with food. Have kids spell out words with the alphabet-shaped pasta in Campbell's® Condensed Vegetable soup.
- Be a good role model. Parents can be positive healthy eating role models for their children. Set an example for your child by eating a variety of vegetables yourself. Develop healthy eating habits early and they'll last a lifetime. If you eat well, chances are your child will too.
- Hide the vegetables! Minced vegetables in sauces like Prego® pasta sauce is a great way for kids to get more vegetables without them even realizing it! Did you know that a 125mL serving of Prego pasta sauces contains 2 full servings of vegetables?
- Accessorize their meals! Pair meals with a colourful vegetable kabob. Add a slice of tomato to a grilled cheese sandwich. Cut fun shapes out of raw vegetables and use as a garnish.
- Add it to their favourite food. Put a slice of tomato in a grilled cheese sandwich or add peppers and onions to homemade pizza. There are lots of ways!
